Rania Al-Yassin became the queen of Jordan.
She met Prince Abdullah II at a dinner party hosted by his sister. They almost immediately fell in love. The engagement took place two months later. Abdullah II ascended the throne and became king of Jordan in February 1999, and a month later (22 March) they married.
