China’s Military Power: The Country’s Main Weapons

Strategic Bomber H-6K

This is an updated version of the H-6 long-range strategic bomber that can attack carrier groups and priority ground targets. The H-6K is armed with YL-12 anti-ship missiles, CJ-10A cruise missiles with conventional or nuclear warheads.

Landing Ship Type 072A

One such ship can carry up to 10 tanks, 250 soldiers along with helicopters, vehicles and supplies. Today, China has 15 such landing ships in service.

Dong Feng-26

This medium-range (4000 km) anti-ship ballistic missile is capable of striking both on land and at sea. Dong Feng-26 is equipped with conventional and nuclear warheads.

Aircraft Carrier Shandong CV-17

This is an upgraded version of the CV-16 aircraft carrier. The main purpose of the Shandong CV-17 is to cover the nuclear submarine fleet and protect China’s interests in the South China Sea. It can carry 40 J-15s and 12 helicopters.

Tank ZTZ-99

3rd generation main battle tank with ZTP-99 smoothbore gun, Reflex missile system and 1500 horsepower turbodiesel. The ZTZ-99 is equipped with a JD-3 defense system with a laser beam that scans the area and reports on the enemy.

Hypersonic Drone DF-ZF

Can deliver missiles, maneuver and evade at hypersonic speeds. Hypersonic Drone DF-ZF can be equipped with nuclear warheads.

Strategic Support Forces

Strategic Support Forces were created in 2015 to strike at enemy systems and wreak havoc on command and control. Support Forces is the department of cyber warfare, space forces and everything related to electronic warfare.

Multiple Launch Rocket System PHL-16

One of the most powerful artillery systems in the world. PHL-16 covers remote strategic targets, airfields, command posts, air defense batteries and so on. It can be equipped with 370 mm or 300 mm guided missiles, ballistic and anti-ship.

Anti-tank Weapons HJ-12

A new Chinese anti-tank guided weapon that can destroy any existing battle tank, small boats and low-flying helicopters. The HJ-12 is also used for precision strikes against enemy bunkers, fortifications and buildings.

Nuclear Submarine 093B Shang

093B Shang is an advanced nuclear-powered submarine that can covertly attack ground targets. It is also equipped with domestic YJ-18 anti-ship cruise missiles.

Anti-satellite Missile Dong Neng-3

This missile can bring down a satellite in low Earth orbit. In addition, Dong Neng-3 has some missile defense capabilities.

It is the largest seaplane in the world. The AG600 is typically used for firefighting, but it can also be used for military purposes. It can stay in the air for 12 hours, hold 50 people and fly over 5,000 kilometers.

Strategic Transport Aircraft XIAN Y-20

This is the first heavy 200-ton airliner developed in China. With a payload capacity of around 66 tons, the XIAN Y-20 can carry battle tanks and other support vehicles, or 300 troops.

Attack Helicopter CAIC WZ-10

Designed to intercept on the battlefield and destroy enemy ground forces. The CAIC WZ-10 has passive protection against small arms fire.

Infantry Fighting Vehicle ZBD-08

This vehicle is equipped with guns and automatic cannons. ZBD-08 is effective against tanks, armored fighting vehicles, fortifications, infantry and other targets.
